President’s Message

Welcome and thank you for visiting the California Police Chiefs Association website that was established as a tool to increase the accessibility of consistent, accurate and timely information to our members who are responsible for ensuring public safety. Our Association is comprised of over 1,400 active and retired municipal California police chiefs and those associate members in the position of “Seconds in Command.” In the State of California, municipal police chiefs are responsible for leading and providing frontline law enforcement services to more than 78% or 28.9 million residents have a responsibility we take with great pride and importance each day. The California Police Chiefs Association is focused toward advancing the law enforcement profession through the collective contributions of its members, engaged advocacy, and relevant training opportunities consistent with the Association’s Mission, Vision and Values.

We pursue our work on behalf of our members and our communities in the several key areas: Legislative and Legal Advocacy, Marketing and Communications and Member Services. Our active engagement on issues of public safety have allowed the association to effectively contribute to the development of policies and laws addressing legal, social and budgetary issues. I invite you to follow our public blog, calchiefsnews.org, to learn of the remarkable work of our members as they make a difference on a daily basis in their communities.

As President of the Association, I commit to our members, our communities, our elected and appointed officials, and our public safety partners to engage the profession to protect our residents, advocate for legislation and resources to support public safety and to provide meaningful services to advance the professionalism of law enforcement.

I look forward to working with all our members and our partners over the next year in my term as President of the California Police Chiefs Association.

Scott R. Seaman
President
