On behalf
of the 1,400 members of the California Police Chiefs Association, welcome to
our website. Our association is comprised of the active and retired municipal
California Police Chiefs, as well as our associate members who serve in the
position of "Seconds in Command." In California municipal police
chiefs are responsible for leading 330 police departments statewide, and for
providing front line law enforcement services to nearly 29 million residents.
It is a responsibility we take great pride in each and every day. Our website
was established as a tool to increase the accessibility of consistent, accurate
and timely information to our members, as well as the opportunity to showcase
some of the outstanding, innovative work being done every day in our
communities.
We work
tirelessly on behalf of our members and our communities in several critical
areas: Legislative and Legal Advocacy, Communications, and Member Services. Our
active engagement on issues of public safety policy have allowed the association
to effectively shape legislation that impacts legal, social, and budgetary
issues. Our Member Services provides the most contemporary training available
to law enforcement leaders statewide, ensuring our members remain contemporary
as well as preparing the next generation of California's law enforcement
executives.
California
is in the early stages of the most significant shift in public safety policy in
a generation. We are committed to engaging our communities, our elected
officials, our public safety partners and academic researchers to ensure front
line law enforcement has the tools and resources available to provide effective
public safety to the communities we serve.
It is my
privilege to serve as President of the California Police Chiefs Association,
and I look forward to working with our members and our partners to enhance
public safety throughout California.
